Valuing the Estate of someone who has passed away.
As part of applying for probate, you need to value the money, property and possessions (‘estate’) of the person who’s died. In terms of a property probate valuation, the type you need will very much depend on what you need it for.
- In the main, and straightforward cases, an estate agent can provide a value that can be inserted into the Probate Return Form.
- If the Deceased’s assets are complicated, the values are higher and/or where specific reliefs might be obtainable against Inheritance Tax a Red Book valuation might be need. For further reading click here
