Tips for a trouble free tenancy check-out.

As your tenancy comes to an end your landlord, or letting agent, will contact you to book your end of tenancy inspection.  Here are some tips from our expert Lettings team to make this process as smooth as possible:
  1. This is the time to dig out the check-in inventory which would have been conducted at the start of your tenancy. Ensure your property is in a similar condition as described in the inventory.
  2. The cleaning of your property needs to be thorough, ideally to a professional standard. Don’t forget the washing machine, cooker, carpets and replace any blown light bulbs.  Double check your agreement – did you agree to have your property professional cleaned?
  3. Fridges & freezers need to be emptied and cleaned.  If agreed the freezer needs to be defrosted.
  4. Remove all personal belongings and rubbish from the property.
  5. We would advise that you highlight any missing or damaged items as soon as possible.
  6. All keys need to be handed back to either the landlord or the letting agent.
  7. You will need to supply your utility companies with final meter readings.
  8. Make all necessary arrangements for your mail to be forward to your ongoing address.
Our main advice would be to get yourself prepared ahead of your tenancy end date, this not only reduces stress levels but can highlight any potential issues with time and space to sort them.
